Church Report magazine is pleased to announce the 50 Most Influential Christians in America. Thanks to you, the readers, for contributing the many phone calls and e-mails to nominate your candidates. The people represented on this Who’s Who list of Christians in America come from all walks of life. There are politicians, authors, pastors, lawyers, radio show hosts, publishers, televangelists and even an actor! You will note that #4 is the Evangelical Voter - how could we publish a list of the most influential Christians and leave out the most important category of Christians in 2004?
1 The staff of The Church Report is pleased to name President George W. Bush as this year’s most influential Christian. Whether battling terrorism, securing funds for the Faith-Based Initiative Program or comforting injured soldiers at Walter Reed Hospital, President Bush exemplifies the qualities of being a Christian and a leader. Even when faced with difficult decisions that may not always be the most popular ones at the time, the President stands firm in his faith and strong in his convictions.
Evidenced by this past year’s election, President Bush has galvanized not just the evangelical community, but Christians from many different denominations. In doing so, he secured another four years in office to continue to protect our country, strengthen our economy, help the less fortunate and bring freedom to oppressed people all over the world. Mr. President, we thank you for your service, we thank you for your leadership and we pray that God will continue to guide you as you lead our great country for another four years.
Finally, a congratulatory note to all of those in this year’s list. You all have contributed so much. From the readers and staff of The Church Report, we thank you!
